This means that your Email address in the BJCP database is either non-existent or incorrect since I have communicated with all people who *do* have valid Email addresses in the BJCP database by Email already to save postage. So, if you live in California, Nevada or Arizona and in the next week receive a postcard from QUAFF about judging and have an Email address, you should send it to Russ Wigglesworth (rad_equipment at rad-mac1.ucsf.edu) so that he can update the BJCP database, because your entry is not up to date. If those of you with Email addresses keep these up to date, you can help save clubs a lot of postage. thanks, dion QUAFF President Organizer America's Finest City Homebrew Competition Quality Ale and Fermentation Fraternity, Sponsor http://www.vigra.com/~hollen/AFCHBC.html - --- Dion Hollenbeck (619)597-7080x164 Email: hollen at vigra.com http://www.vigra.com/~hollen Sr. Software Engineer - Vigra Div. of Visicom Labs San Diego, California ------------------------------ From: Spencer W Thomas Date: Wed, 22 Jan 1997 10:45:00 -0500 Subject: Re: Alt beer at GABF >>>>> "GSMITHBEER" == GSMITHBEER writes: GSMITHBEER> In the interest of accuracy (response to Al K's GSMITHBEER> observation about Sam Adams winning a gold for Boston GSMITHBEER> Ale in the Alt beer category.) This is along the lines that I mentioned--coming up with a "rating" of breweries by some consumer organization (maybe BJCP, maybe not). If five breweries are "good", they should all be recognized, not just the top three. This kind of "rating" will give the average consumer as well as the craft beer drinker a guideline of how their local brewers stack up. The ratings would not have to be given at some special event, so brewers would not "participate". They could, however, still use the ratings when marketing if desired. Of course there are many logistical problems to implementing this idea, as well as problems on how to keep the ratings updated. - Bryan grosbl at ctrvax.vanderbilt.edu Nashville, TN ------------------------------ From: Dion Hollenbeck Date: 22 Jan 1997 10:33:57 -0800 Subject: AFCHBC Competition notict The following message is a courtesy copy of an article that has been posted as well. 1997 4th Annual America's Finest City Homebrew Competition Saturday March 8, 1997 Alesmith Brewing Co.
