I was waiting for the time when they all sang and the book went musical! Here, the setting and era of the story are clear from the beginning, and the evil Jawahal is given a backstory that’s perhaps too detailed, raising rather a lot of questions.

I am not sure if this is a spoiler, though I don’t think it really is, but I’m giving you a fair warning anyway, as it has a lot to do with the foundation of the story. I medlanoche the Chowbar society members, all of them and I was more sympethtic to Jawahel -villain- but Zafon my man this thing sounded like a movie from Bollywood! With such a colourful cast, it was easy to imagine yourself in that dilapidated house and I liked how his children actually act like children, too.

Aryami was there to warn Mr. Sheere was raised by Aryami, but they never stayed too long on the same place, they were always moving and hiding.
